Safety – The Ultimate Show of Respect

Safety stands firmly at the top of our priorities list not only because we’re committed to meeting and exceeding regulatory requirements, but primarily because we believe it demonstrates the ultimate respect for our truck drivers and clients.

Truck Driver Safety

We can’t control how other people behave on the highway, but we can ensure that our truck drivers are trained and prepared to prevent accidents. Our first measure of success on every job is our driver’s safe arrival – not just to their destination, but to their home and family at the end of the day.

In making safety the leading component of our application and certification processes, we go beyond state and federal requirements. We also help our truck drivers understand their roles and responsibilities under the federal Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program, and in the process dispel many misconceptions.

We also go beyond training our drivers to be safe operators. We teach them how to recognize and understand safe load securement procedures, and we empower them to insist that safe practices be followed before any load is transported.

What is Safety at ProDrivers?

Selecting the Right Drivers – We are firmly committed to selecting the right drivers.  A major component to this selection is our pre-employment testing that takes the guesswork out of our hiring process and help us find the best men and women for the job.  Building a productive, trustworthy, workforce doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming.

Benefits of using our Pre-Employment Testing include:

  • Reducing workers’ comp claims
  • Improving workplace morale
  • Reducing employee turnover
  • Saving time and lowering hiring costs
  • Improving company’s safety record
  • Hiring all-around better employees

Selecting the Right Clients – A member of the ProDrivers team will visit each client to assure that the worksite and safety culture will set up our driver for success.  This meeting, called a Customer Alignment Meeting (CAM), will involve running CSA scores for clients to see if there are particular needs that we may address prior to assignment.  Based on this meeting, ProDrivers will recommend additional training for the driver to ensure they are prepared for the challenges of each job.

Pro-TREAD Training – Every driver dispatched by ProDrivers will be trained in the following:

  • Basic ProDriver Safety Orientation
  • CSA Overview
  • Pre-Trip Inspections

Additional training may be required based on particular client needs or requests.

Driver Self-Observations – The professional men and women at ProDrivers complete regular Self-Observations of the jobs they perform.  These Observations are regular reminders of common hazards faced by those in the transportation industry.  Drivers are asked simple questions about fatigue, safe lifting, slips, trips, and falls, and distractions on the road.  This regular communication between the ProDrivers branch staff and drivers is an opportunity to share challenges and make every effort to proactively control hazards.

Quarterly Safety Challenges – Truck drivers are provided safety training each quarter on relevant safety topics such as safe lifting, pallet jacks, lift gates and slips, trips, and falls.  Drivers are eligible for a quarterly drawing for completing this training.
